We always enjoy sharing great news about our favorite car manufacturer especially as another year comes to a close and positive news is one thing we can all use. It’s great seeing so many Subarus on the road and meeting a new group of creative enthusiasts. It’s been an exciting month of announcements out of the Subaru of America office regarding not only the climbing sales numbers for a number of platforms under the Subaru brand, but also some impressive accolades that owners and serious enthusiasts love to see. With their “Share the Love” rolling strong over the past few months we can see that Subaru is still a great example of giving back, paying it forward, and showing the automotive industry how generosity and human connections work. As we wind down our year at Subimods and enter another exciting year of providing customers with quality aftermarket solutions, we are inspired by the longevity and constant work done by Subaru to support their customers, the community, and those organizations that need help to keep moving during challenging times. Let's take a look at the latest news shared by Subaru and take some positive energy into the new year that can be reflected back into our community to encourage and inspire.
The hits just keep on coming from our friends at Subaru according to an announcement released earlier this month regarding the increasing sales numbers of two SUV platforms. On December 3rd, Subaru of America announced via press release that their vehicle sales had reached a record high in November at 57,690 units , which gave the automaker an 8.2 percent increase over their sales recorded a year before which came in at 53,327. The release also lauded the year-to-date sales totals at a 5.5 percent increase over 2023 with an impressive amount topping over 605,000 units. As announced one month ago, the popular Crosstrek saw an amazing boost in sales by hitting 16,948 units sold, an increase of 13 percent over November 2023. The Crosstrek has enjoyed being a top seller by volume for the fifth month in a row as of November. Per their press announcement, Subaru included the success of other platforms by confirming, "Forester was the second-highest selling carline in November with 14,843 vehicles sold...Outback sales increased to 14,004" while adding that Solterra also saw sales growth by achieving "13 percent over the previous year." President and COO of Subaru of America, Jeff Walters gratefully stated in the announcement, “During this time of year we are especially grateful for the efforts of our retailers to grow the Subaru family while giving back through the annual Subaru Share the Love® Event." Senior Vice President of Sales, Troy Poston added, "Our vehicle lineup, including Crosstrek and Forester, comfortably fits the needs of more and more drivers.” he said. “We look forward to closing out the year successfully and to welcoming in a great New Year with our Subaru family."
Another delicious slice of news came across the wire early last week as Subaru reported another honor, but this time in the safety realm from an organization who is a serious reviewer of what it takes to protect the average driver from danger. Through a press announcement released on December 17th, Subaru shared news of the Forester (excluding Wilderness trim) again receiving the prestigious TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for crash safety, crash avoidance, and mitigation. Newly instituted for 2025 forward, the IIHS requirements which include pedestrian crash prevention, side impact protection, and moderate front overlap testing were additional met requirements that helped the 2025 Subaru Forester earn this important recognition. As many long time Subaru owners and proud overland enthusiasts know, the popular Forester platform has gained this reward and recognition 18 times since 2007, an achievement not met by any other small SUV platform. As stated in Subaru's announcement, qualifying for the IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award means that a vehicle must, (1) Earn 'Good' ratings for Small Overlap Front and Updated Side Tests, (2) Earn an 'Acceptable' or 'Good” rating under the Pedestrian Front Crash Prevention Evaluation, and (3) Earn an ‘Acceptable’ or ‘Good’ rating for Headlights "across all trim levels". Also, per the release, "an “Acceptable” or “Good” rating is required for the updated moderate front crash test." In the release, Jeff Walters proudly added, "The Forester’s exceptional performance in safety evaluations is part of its history and what our customers expect from Subaru," he said.“Being recognized by the IIHS with its top rating is an honor.” Walters confirmed Subaru's commitment to their growing community by concluding, "The new 2025 Subaru Forester continues our long-running commitment to delivering vehicles designed to the highest safety standards."
