Between announcements regarding newly delivered and/or updated vehicle platforms, promising words for future releases and technologies, or involvement with the latest challenges in motorsports, our favorite brand has had a ton of news to share. It is safe to say that since their steady flow of announcements towards the end of 20024 regarding the increase of sales and popularity of the Crosstrek, Outback, and the unveiling of the iconic and newly redesigned Forester, Subaru has been on a powerful PR roll of accolades and success which has definitely warmed the soul of any dedicated enthusiast or individual who is contemplating bringing the brand into their family. We wanted to take an opportunity to share a couple of news stories from the month that can focus on their efforts from both the consumer and motorsport enthusiast viewpoints and underline the scope of victories they are already seeing in 2025. No matter from which seat you sit, encouraging news is always a bit uplifting and inspirational for those who follow the business behind the brand they support. Let's take a brief look at what has been happening over the past month.
Entering springtime always guarantees that familiar feeling to return to the hearts of dedicated enthusiasts from around the country and the larger world. This marks the beginning of a season where thousands of Subaru faithful will converge onto speedways and motorsports venues spread out over several locations around the country to inspire and be inspired through a brand's spirit and performance. At the beginning of April, Subaru announced that they will again return as the title sponsor of the annual SubieEvents series which will launch Wicked Big Meet, at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, Connecticut on June 8th, the first of six events to start the 2025 season. As they have during previous seasons, Subaru will deliver a collection of experiences to all of the enthusiast's senses. Underneath their iconic brand presence, Subaru will bring several offerings to each SubieEvent scheduled across the nation, including motorsports competitions, technology seminars, special promotions and giveaways, exclusive vendors, and a number of interactive sessions and family-friendly activities that make these welcoming times for everyone.
In addition to the familiar locations that have hosted these events in the past, SubieEvents will bring SubieFest Florida to Orlando's Speed World, a new spot to host the season finale on December 14th. Per their public announcement, Subaru stated, "Fans will have the opportunity to test drive a variety of new Subaru EV, hybrid, and gas vehicles, as well as to drive their own Subarus on specially designed autocross courses to test themselves while gaining valuable driving experience." Also noted by the carmaker, Subaru will also offer enthusiasts a unique peek behind some rare and vintage platforms, special edition models, and vehicles from the world of rally competition. After their exciting launch at Wicked Big Meet, the event series will move on to Subiefest California at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia on August 2nd, Boxerfest at York Fairgrounds in Pennsylvania, on September 14th, Subiefest Midwest in Joliet, IL., on September 27th, Subiefest Texas in Dallas on October 11th, and they will close up the season in Orlando on December 14th. Subaru's Senior Vice President of Marketing, Alan Bethke was quoted to say, “The SubieEvents series has grown into an expansive celebration that has something for every member of the Subaru family."
It is always exciting to see something new come rolling off the assembly line, especially when it promises to deliver a good supply of options and innovations in its wake. Subaru has remained consistent over the years as a leader in both innovative and technological offerings that touch both the consumer and performance realms, but also keep an active and critical focus on safety and fuel economy, making their array of appeal much wider and inclusive for their entire community of followers. The spring's traditional spirit of rebirth and freshness does not halt through this month's debut announcement of Subaru's newly upgraded overland champion, the 2026 Outback. As the carmaker celebrates the platform's 30th year of production, the new Outback promises to deliver a both dynamic and innovative product for a new generation of overland enthusiasts and discerning consumers who pursue boldness and smart functionality to enhance a wide range of driving experiences. Always viewed as an impressive and icon member of the Subaru coral of products, the press announcement notes that the Outback "has been one of Subaru’s flagship vehicles" since its launch.
There have been over 3 million Outbacks sold in the United States since that date, confirming its overwhelming appeal and legacy in the heart and mind inside the adventurist community. According to Subaru's April 16 press release, a number of features are being highlighted to set their newest model from its predecessor by stating, "The all-new seventh-generation Subaru Outback pairs a bold new exterior with a functional, contemporary interior," including an "advanced, all-new 12.1-inch touchscreen center display paired with 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster standard on all models." The announcement adds that this new Outback contains, "the latest-generation of award-winning Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology", which promises to support "hands-free, driver-supervised driving on highways at speeds up to 85 mph." In concert with its robust, legendary symmetrical all-wheel drive system, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, and X-Mode®, the Subaru team also promises to bring extreme comfort through the Outback's quiet, spacious interior, and consistently improved ride quality. Subaru has confirmed through this release that when the 2026 Subaru Outback rolls out in late 2025, it will be available in several trim offerings including Premium, Limited, Touring, Limited XT, Touring XT, and the popular Wilderness.
Finally, wrapping up a month of announcements involving revisited partnerships and continued innovative progress with existing platforms, Subaru moves forward with its technology development course while staking additional claims within the electric vehicle domain. Subaru currently has one model in their lineup that is categorized as a fully electric SUV. The Solterra was launched in 2021 as the product of a joint venture with Toyota while marking a moment when Subaru first dipped their toes into the electric vehicle market. Now, as 2025 comes into full swing, the carmaker confirms its continued development in this area with the announcement of the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker EV , its second-ever all-electric SUV. According to their April 16th press release, the carmaker's newest addition to their product line came during the 2025 New York International Auto Show where it was quoted they introduced, "a new propulsion system to a familiar shape" while, again remaining consistent across platforms, retained their powerful Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system plus collection of safety features that have made them innovators in the industry. Like with their gas-powered offerings, Subaru wanted their new EV option to be an appealing alternative for overland adventure seekers.
Per their press release, Subaru confirmed, "the 2026 Subaru Trailseeker comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive thanks to two powerful electric motors placed on the front and rear axles, making approximately 375 horsepower and offering towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds. Equipped with X-MODE® Dual-Mode System with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud Modes, Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control, the Trailseeker is a ready off- and on-road companion for adventure." With an substantial jump in cargo room and overall exterior profile when compared to its sibling Solterra, the new Trailseeker promises to enter the market with much larger internal storage area and roof height which will attract those outdoor adventurist types and allow the traveller to pack well without compromising comfort and ability to maintain a safe, stable driving experience. To further compliment the needs of both the daily driver and off road explorer, the 2026 Trailseeker will be smartly outfitted with a number of innovative technologies , including EyeSight® driver-assistance technologies, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control, just to name a few. Subaru confirmed in their announcement that the 2026 Trailseeker was "developed to highlight the SUV’s go-anywhere attitude" as punctuated with ground clearance of 8.3 inches. Their new platform announcement may turn a few drivers from powering with gas to electric, while amplifying Subaru's EV presence nationwide.
