The Clutch Masters light weight Chromoly-steel flywheel weighs 12lbs, light weight aluminum flywheel weighs 10 lbs. Both flywheels are significantly lighter compared to the OEM cast iron flywheel which weighs 23 lbs. Clutch Masters chromoly-steel flywheel are engineered to be driver friendly with minimal gear rattle which is increased when too light of a flywheel is utilized.

The light weight flywheel offers a much quicker throttle response without compromising any bottom end torque which can be reduced when using too light of a flywheel. Clutch Masters light weight flywheels also help to eliminate any turbo-lag which is produced with a heavy flywheel.

We recommend the chromoly-steel flywheel for street applications and aluminum flywheel for only race applications. Clutch Masters Flywheels are SFI Certified meeting performance and safety standards for the automotive and motorsport industry.

Fitment Notes:

  • If you have a 2005-2009 Legacy GT and are putting in a WRX Clutch you need to use this flywheel.
  • 2018-2021 WRX models will require an early-style clutch kit. This flywheel is an "Early Model" design, and cannot be used with a "Late Model" 2018-2021 WRX clutch kit. If you are unsure of which fitment clutch you have or need, please reach out to us directly.

Not for a daily driver

Installed it on a 2017 wrx premium. Drove with the the lightweight fly wheel for 600 miles before deciding to reinstall my original flywheel due to the gear rattle being to loud. Everytime I drove my wrx after installing it I felt like my car would break. After replacing it with the orginal flywheel (resurfaced) eveything sounded quiet again proving it was the flywheel gear rattle noise. The reason I gave it 3 stars is beacuse if you wrx is strictly rallycross or some form of racing you might be fine with the noise but daily driving I would not even attempt to install a light weight flywheel. As performance wise i didnt tell to much of a diffrence to the OEM flywheel but that may have been due to not wanting to drive it hard with the noise going on. Hope this helps!
