The Gurney Flap is a small tab projecting from the trailing edge of a wing. Typically it is set at a right angle to the pressure side surface of the airfoil, and projects 1% to 2% of the wing chord. This trailing edge device can improve the performance of a simple airfoil to nearly the same level as a complex high-performance design. The PERRIN Gurney Flap is mounted to the rear wing by drilling holes and bolting on. Other gurney flaps mount with double-sided tape and advertise an equally strong attachment. The PERRIN Gurney Flap will be secured much better with its bolts than a wing with tape for much greater peace of mind. With other PERRIN Gurney Flaps, they have been tested to see what sort of performance increase can be found. Stay tuned for tests performed on the PERRIN Gurney Flap for 2009-14 WRX & 2008-14 STI!
We purchased the Perrin Wing Gurney Flap and installed it. Easy install and everything was included. Just a note that we shared with Perrin and they are modifying the directions. The supplied 8-32 Rivet nuts/Rivnuts, in fact, all 8-32 Rivet nuts/Rivnuts should use a 1/4” drill bit for the hole not a 7/32” drill bit as mentioned. A great product easily molds to the rear wing. Hope this helps you decide and properly install it.
BMan,
Thank you for sharing your experience with the Perrin Wing Gurney Flap. It's great to hear that the installation process was easy and that everything was included. Your note about the drill bit size is also helpful for future customers, and I'm glad to hear that Perrin is modifying the directions. Thank you for taking the time to leave a 5 Star Review, your pics and sharing your installation tips.
