DETAILS
The IAG 2015+ Steering Rack Swap Kit is an essential upgrade for owners of Subaru models equipped with GD chassis subframes. This bushing kit allows the installation of a 2015+ Subaru STI steering rack into 2005–2007 Subaru WRX and 2005–2007 STI models, delivering a noticeably quicker steering ratio for reduced steering input and improved responsiveness. It’s an ideal solution for modernizing older Subarus, providing a sharper, more connected feel behind the wheel.
Factory steering racks found in GD chassis Subarus feature a 15.2:1 steering ratio with approximately 2.7 turns lock to lock. In comparison, the 2015+ Subaru STI steering rack offers a much quicker 13:1 ratio and only 2.4 turns lock to lock. The IAG Steering Rack Swap Kit ensures proper fitment of this newer rack, resulting in more immediate steering response, improved precision, and reduced steering wheel movement during aggressive or spirited driving.
While the IAG 2015+ Steering Rack Swap Kit is designed to correctly position and support the modern STI power steering rack, installation is not a simple bolt-on process. Extensive modifications are required for proper fitment, and professional installation is strongly recommended. These modifications include cutting and sanding the subframe to provide clearance for the power steering hard lines. Aftermarket tie rod ends are required, and in some cases, shortening the inner and/or outer tie rods may also be necessary to achieve correct alignment and functionality.
This kit took so much of the guesswork out of this swap. The install video outlined the cutting needed to be done perfectly - I was able to fit it in with 1 try. I had to do a little detective work to determine exactly where the spacers went, but once that was determined the rack fit like a glove. I did this while doing an engine swap, so I was able to completely remove/replace the crossmember - which I'm sure made it much easier...
Hello,
Thank you for your 5 star review! We are happy to hear this kit helped with your swap!
