The turbocharger is one of the hottest parts of your engine bay—and that heat can quickly hurt performance. As the turbo heats up, it radiates heat into the intercooler and the charge air running through it, raising intake temps and reducing power. The factory turbo heat shield helps, but it doesn't clear most aftermarket downpipes or turbo setups. The GrimmSpeed V2 Turbo Heat Shield fixes that with a design that fits a wide range of aftermarket configurations while working to keep engine bay temps down and your TMIC as cool as possible.

Version 2 takes everything people loved about the original and pushes it even further. The new design provides more coverage for better heat control, cleaner looks, and easier installation with zero fitment headaches. It’s built from 304 stainless steel with a brushed finish and a laser-etched GrimmSpeed logo, and is also available with a black ceramic coating for superior heat resistance. By popular request, an optional pre-cut DEI Reflect-A-GOLD™ layer can be added for even more protection against radiant heat.

Testing Results

To quantify heat reduction, each heat shield configuration was tested on the same vehicle under identical conditions. The car was driven through a 6-mile low-speed loop followed by 10 miles of highway driving, then brought into the shop where a FLIR C2 thermal camera measured TMIC surface temperature near the turbo. All tests were completed on the same day, same path, same WOT usage, with 20°F ambient temperature for consistency.

Results showed:

• V2 Stainless Heat Shield: ~20% lower TMIC surface temps vs. exposed turbo
• + DEI Gold Foil: Additional ~10% reduction
• Black Ceramic Coated Shield: Over 32% reduction
• Black Ceramic + Gold Foil: Up to 36% total heat reduction
