Grimmspeed Turbo Heat Shield Reflect-A-Gold Foil (Pre-Cut for 092007/092008)

Reducing under-hood heat is crucial for maintaining intercooler efficiency and protecting nearby components—especially on turbocharged Subarus. A turbo heat shield is a great first step, but because metal absorbs heat over time, GrimmSpeed set out to take heat management even further.

The GrimmSpeed Pre-Cut DEI Reflect-A-GOLD™ Foil Kit, designed specifically for our Version 2 Turbo Heat Shield. This fiberglass-backed, self-adhesive gold foil dramatically boosts heat-shield performance by reflecting radiant heat before it can soak into the metal. Applied to the inside surface of the heat shield, it creates an additional thermal barrier that keeps under-hood temperatures even lower.

Each piece is precisely CAD-designed and CNC-cut for a perfect fit and effortless installation.

Testing:

To measure real-world effectiveness, we performed a controlled loop consisting of:
• 6 miles of low-speed driving
• 10 miles of highway cruising
Temperatures were then recorded using a FLIR C2 Thermal Imaging Camera at a consistent location on a GrimmSpeed STI TMIC—just above the passenger-side bracket, closest to the turbo.

All tests were completed on the same vehicle, same route, same day, and in 20°F ambient temperatures.

Results:

• GrimmSpeed V2 Heat Shield alone: 20% heat reduction
• Heat Shield + Reflect-A-GOLD™ Foil: ~30% heat reduction
• Black ceramic-coated Heat Shield: 32% heat reduction
