I installed this kit exactly like other timing belts I have done and as the Subaru or competitor brand kits instruct. I had the belt skip 4 teeth on the power side of the crank pulley after about 40 miles. The belt rubbed the crank guide. I contacted Subimods and they contacted C23. Sent pictures and details. I found that if I use a .635mm gauge with room to set the guides it puts me right on for tolerances. After tightening, I make sure I can run all guides with that gauge and then check the upper spec with a 1.245mm gauge for no fit. C23 responded that .635mm is too tight to the 1mm +-.5mm and its instalation error. Spin it a few times and check again. I pulled it apart and thankfully my cams spun free. Put it back together then double checked after their response. I was at about .9 on all the guides which is about where I have been for everyone of these that I have done (this is my 4th or 5th). Still did not change their response.
I contacted them mainly for technical assistance and was less concerned about free parts or anything. I still dont know what went wrong. Best I can tell is the tensioner didnt fully bleed with one cycle or there is an imperfection in the belt.
Needless to say, you are probably on your own if you buy this kit and anything goes wrong. I cannot recommend this kit or company. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the bearings and tensioner all appear to be NTN and Koyo and these are good brands you will find on OE parts.
