Constructed from pulverized volcanic rock, this blanket can withstand continuous temperatures up to 1832°F and peak temperatures up to 2300°F, providing exceptional thermal protection for engine bay components. In addition to protecting nearby components, the blanket also minimizes heat soak transfer between the main body and actuator body of the wastegate, ensuring more stable and consistent operation under extreme conditions.
Turbocharged engine bays are notoriously hot, and critical components like vacuum lines, wiring, and charge pipe couplers are at risk of heat damage. Each heat shield is constructed with an outer layer made from pulverized volcanic lava rock, formed into a durable fabric and woven into a tight mesh. Inside, high-temperature calcium magnesium silicate wool provides insulation rated up to 2300°F peak. The insulation is held in place by a high-temperature stainless steel mesh, which enhances durability and ensures the blanket can withstand the harshest engine bay conditions.
Installation is simple and quick. The blanket wraps around the wastegate and is secured with the included spring, which is designed to maintain proper tension to hold the shield in place during thermal expansion and contraction. This allows for a secure fit while ensuring optimal thermal protection for your wastegate and surrounding components.
