For the first time ever, you can now replace the ENTIRE OEM shifting assembly in the 2015+ WRX and convert over to linkage shifting with the DM-2. This shifter offers the Ultimate Shifting Experience for you and your WRX, further connecting you to your car.

The 6061 billet aluminum foundation is secured to the chassis using 304 stainless steel mounting brackets, whereas OEM shifter mounts to the vehicle using an entirely plastic housing. OEM WRX shifters use a plastic cup full of grease to pivot the shifter from gear to gear. The DM-2 has a billet steel u-joint that is pre-loaded onto four, ENDURO MAX ball bearings for durability and directness. The DM-2 uses steel linkage with chromoly steel, PTFE lined rod ends that connect the shifter to the transmission shift plate. The linkage allows the transmission to perform pitching and rolling movements for stress free shifting in corners and hard acceleration.

The centering mechanism uses billet aluminum components, twin detents, a torsion spring, and an ENDURO MAX radial bearing for the most precise movements. The spring pressure has been increased compared to the OEM feel to give the user a firmer shift when moving the shifter out of center. The centering mechanism works in conjunction with the one inside of your transmission. This feature helps greatly when shifting through the entire "H" pattern by helping guide the shifter through the gears easier. For example, during a 2nd to 3rd gear shift the centering mechanism will help guide the shifter into 3rd gear easier making sure you don't miss. 

Adjusting the height of the DM-2 V2 does not require ANY tools or the dissasembly of your interior that other aftermarket shifters require. Simply rotate your billet aluminum leather boot collar for over an inch of shift knob height adjustment. This easy adjustment can provide both a change in throw and a change in the force required to shift.

Experience the Difference.

I had a small issue on install which was corrected by my technician with ease. There is a narrower shift pattern when compared to the STI shifter, which is a lil bit wider. It is a true short that provides a better connection to the transmission and is truly a flick of the wrist between gears. The height adjustment feature with the base plate (seperate part) to seal it from the elements and you got a new experience when driving.

DM-2 shifter is a neat kit

DARKMATTERX DM-2 Shifter for my 2018 WRX arrived on time and was slick, you could tell just by looking into the box. Hopefully these guys go to a lot of trade shows so as many as possible can take a good look at this kit. Holding this in one hand and the WRX or the STI shift assemblies in the other, you can easily see where Subaru decided to cheap out. (not a knock, all manufacturers exist only to make a profit)
I had my clutch replaced at the same time of the installation of the DM-2 Shifter. Went over the installation with the mechanic, but he struggled a bit and I got a few calls. We put our heads together and got past it. I think we can chalk those work stoppages to the novelty of this complete shifter kit with linkages.
If you've driven an STI you may notice the difference from a WRX because it came with linkages instead of cable actuation. That is the only similarity, this kit is beefy and very direct. I believe that extra heft makes for a more effortless and yet a quicker shift that is also a smoother shift.
I have no complaints, some may find the extra mechanical sounds this kit makes an issue. Well remember that there's no plastic, its all solid aluminum and steel. It is not cheap, but it is worth the asking price.

Precise and fun!

I had actually ordered all the parts to do a typical short shifter kit then a friend pointed me to this assembly. This shifter is a completely different level than a factory assembly with aftermarket parts. I installed it in my garage using the video and had zero issues. I’ve been driving with it for a week now and absolutely love it! Definitely recommend!
