Many Subarus come with a steering dampener installed which is designed to reduce feedback from the road. This dampener allows for slop in the steering wheel that does not translate to any movement of the wheels on the road. Whether you're turning the wheel under normal driving conditions, in a parking lot, or on the track, there is a noticeable slop in the steering wheel. The PERRIN Steering Dampener Lockdown compresses the rubber within the dampener and fills the gap which virtually eliminates any play in the steering wheel. The PERRIN Steering Dampener Lockdown is designed to be installed in as little as 30 minutes on a 2015+ WRX. Other models may require removal of additional parts; installation time is still less than an hour.

Helps with the steering feel

Rather quick installation if the car is up in the air (I had it on jackstands to swap over the winter wheels to the summers). Took about 20 minutes to install once I figured out the best angle of attack. Reached it from under the car on the driver’s side. Steering feel is improved, not drastically, but by a noticeable amount.

one of my favorite mods

This is one of the most noticeable mods to do. my steering response is SOOOO much better than it was before. 1 whole season done in AutoX with it and i cant recommend it more!

feels great, install easy enough if you do it appropriately

install was rather easy just go through the wheel well on the driver front side. stiffens steering & eliminates steering “dead zone”. all movements move the car, you don’t have to move past a threshold to get the wheels to move

Well worth the price!

I have a '23 VB and am coming from a Jeep Wrangler JL which had some of the worst steering in any vehicle I have ever owned. There was a hint of the vagueness to the VB steering, similar to the JL and thought I would have to live with what I would describe as darty steering in the VB. This lockdown kit solved that problem. The steering is now more responsive and I can make microcorrections to keep the car straight. I suggest attacking the steering rack from the bottom of the car. Just take off the splash guard, the front skid plate, and you will have access to the components.
