Why should you install a Shifter Stop?

Due to the slop of the internals in the transmission, there is an unacceptable amount of horizontal slop within the 1st- and 2nd- gear shift gates. What should be little to no movement ends up being nearly an inch of play! This makes for an unnatural placement of shift gates and a lost feeling of which gear you are in.

The PERRIN Shifter Stop removes this play, reducing the horizontal movement to 0.12 inches. This makes for a solid connection between the driver and transmission.

Details:

The PERRIN Shifter Stop is perfectly designed to bolt directly to the shifter. Being constructed from 6061-T6 Aluminum allows for countless downshifts from 3rd to 2nd gear without the worry of damaging the shifter stop or shifter.

Included with the shifter stop is hardware that helps to further reduce lateral assembly movement by closing up the gap that the OEM hardware allows.

Surprising!

After reading everywhere that this should be your first mod, I understand why. The install took about 20 minutes, and even with my monkey paws I didn't lose anything.

The difference in shifting is night and day. I really didn't expect to notice a difference, but it almost feels like a different car.

Why Subaru didn't just add this inexpensive fix is beyond me.
