The OVERTAKE Transmission Mount Insert Kit for the Subaru 2004-2021 STI and 2022-2026 WRX drops a molded 65A polyurethane insert into the voids of your factory transmission mount, taking out the play the stock bushing was built to allow. Nothing gets replaced and nothing gets pressed, so the stiffer feel costs a fraction of what a full mount swap runs. If the shifter feels a beat late and the car rocks when you let the clutch out, the mount under your gearbox is the reason.
The factory mount does a real job. Subaru molded voids into the bushing so drivetrain noise and vibration get absorbed instead of resonating through the cabin, and for daily driving that is the right call. Those same voids let the gearbox move around when you load it up, which reads at the lever as slop and at the pedal as an oscillating take-up. Built for the 2004-2021 Subaru STI and the current WRX, the OVERTAKE Transmission Mount Insert Kit closes that gap without asking you to buy a whole new mount.
Closing the voids stops the gearbox from wandering, and the difference shows up right away at the lever and the pedal:
Replacing the transmission mount outright is the common answer, and the stiffer aftermarket mounts do the job, but they ask for hundreds of dollars to solve a problem that lives in a few cubic inches of missing rubber. Our insert fills those voids instead. The mount on the Subaru 2004-2021 STI and 2022-2026 WRX is not the same shape as the one under the earlier cars, since it carries two voids where the older WRX mount has three, so this kit is molded specifically for it rather than trimmed down from the other part. We stayed at 65A on durometer because going harder turns the mount into a noise path and puts transmission whine straight into the cabin, while 65A holds the gearbox in place and still leaves enough give to keep that out. The insert is soft enough to work in by hand, and the silicone lubricant packet in the box keeps it from tearing on the way in. Budget 20 to 30 minutes with hand tools, and pull it back out any time you want the factory ride quality back.
