Regards,
I purchased the black finish TMIC as an affordable upgrade to my 2024 WRX. I paired this with Mishimoto cold air induction and charge pipe running on 93 octane with OEM STI axleback exhaust. I installed the TMIC a few weeks after the rest of the induction parts and it feels like the car has lost some pull at the top end of 5th and 6th gear. But the lower gear pull seems a bit better. My max recorded boost pressure is 13.3psi. I'm thinking because of the amount of air coming in has increased it's time to add a tuner to compensate. Instaltion is easy, didn't need any instruction or youtube, it's prety straight forward. Fit and finish was right on. I would recomend it for anyone looking for an afordable upgrade.
R.B.,

It is great to hear that you found it to be a cost-effective upgrade with a straightforward installation process. Your detailed setup, including the cold air induction, charge pipe, and OEM STI axleback exhaust, provides useful context. It is interesting to note the improvement in lower gear pull but some loss at the top end of 5th and 6th gears. A tuner to compensate for the increased air intake will definitely optimize performance. Thank you for your recommendation and for providing such a comprehensive review. Pro's:
-Appears to do it's job. Definately better air flow. Noticed my max boost went up another .3 lbs max boost. I have the Dmann 93 Octane w/ ETS CAI tune and peak boost was 18.1 and now it's 18.5 on the car. Cobb AP states 19.09 lbs peak boost where it was 18.1 previously. Temperature drop is about 3 degrees less than stock TMIC.
-Came in a very nice box.
-You can hook a boost or temperature sensor to it.
-Amongst ETS and Perrin; it is the cheaper option.
-Took me 40 minutes total to install. The shroad install takes the longest time to complete. About 30 minutes (But more on this in the Con's section) The intercooler took 10 minutes to install.
- Might be in my head but throttle response does seem a smidge better.
Con's:
-Randomly showed up on my door step with only one notice stating it was delivered.
-Build quality isn't the greatest. I bought the black version and all the little dents and imperfections are very noticeable. My main concern was the main facing has a very noticeable dent but it certainly doesn't affect how it works in anyways.
-No stickers... Like what company doesn't provide stickers nowadays. I wouldn't put them on my car but I do have a drawer full of stickers from every performance company I have purchased from. What gives Mishimoto? Spent too much money on a cool box to ship it in but no stickers.
-The pop rivets for the shroad didn't include anything to fasten to. I literally ripped off all the pop rivets thinking the ones they included were complete replacements but they aren't. Now I gotta buy after market pop rivets because the ones I had laying around barely work. This is my biggest complaint and really pissed me off. The big ones included had backings to them but the little ones are litterally just a rivet with two pieces of plastic that don't grip onto anything. Subimods can we somehow find out if that's how it was suppose to come?
-No instuctions included to install but their Youtube video was easy to follow.
Conclusion:
Despite the imperfections and the rivets being completely useless to me, it appears to do its job. Honestly, I don't see the sense in speading $1,000 on a TMIC just as much as I don't see any sense in speading $300 for a charge pipe when all that is just a tube of aluminum. ETS would be the way to go for sure but I'm only going to be droping serious money if someday I want to build a car over 500 hp and if I do I'd certainly dish out the money for an ETS FMIC. As long as this Mishimoto TMIC does it's job, I still find it being a good deal. My goal is to have a street car that's fun to drive and around 400hp after a protune so a TMIC upgrade is exactly what I'd need for that kind of power. IMO, people buying FMIC on cars that don't have +500hp and don't track their car are wasting their money. This TMIC isn't the prettiest on the market but it seems to work just fine so far.
CrimsonNimbus,
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback on the Mishimoto Top Mount Intercooler for your 2022-2023 WRX. It is great to hear that you have noticed improved performance with increased peak boost and reduced temperatures. However, the concerns you raised about build quality, the absence of stickers, and the issues with the pop rivets for the shroud are noted. While the intercooler appears to do its job effectively, these issues can be frustrating. Your insight about the cost-effectiveness of the upgrade for your power goals and the preference for a TMIC over an FMIC for certain applications is valuable. We appreciate your thorough review and hope that these observations help potential buyers make informed decisions. Enjoy!
