I run K&N air-filters on all my vehicles. Internal combustion motors are basically just air pumps - so allowing the intake to pull air in easier is a no brainier... Noticeably improved throttle response on my '22 Outback XT. It is very important that you monitor and stay on top of cleaning and re-oiling the filter depending on how much on or off road driving you do. Cost aside, a lot of people say they would prefer to install a Cold Air Intake over just a filter. I rarely find CAI's to actually improve bringing in 'colder' air but merely utilize larger diameter intake piping and sometimes larger surface area filters over OEM. I find that most CAI's that are not still utilizing a sealed filter box will allow the filter to get dirty very quickly and can allow for more water/mud/dust exposure so keep that in mind. If you drive only on paved roads a CAI might be worth it. I recommend installing a cat-back exhaust before spending money on a CAI. I think you will be surprised how well just a high-flow filter helps.

The first impression driving the car after the 1 minute install was the engine runs a bit more "electric" and the throttle response is much faster. I didn't have any expectations going into this upgrade, but it was a noticeable improvement. Small compared to others, like a tuner or a replacement cold air system, but real none the less. If you want a little better feel it's worth it. Plus, the car does runs smoother too. No regrets. This will hold me over just fine for now until I put up the dough for the full-on K&N cold air intake.

Easy to install and provide better throttle response. Definitely worth it and should be one of your first upgrades.

Simply undo the two clips, spread the box apart, remove the old and add the new. I've used K&N filters on cars and bikes for years.
