Intercooler Core
The foundation of any great FMIC is its core—and this one is engineered from the ground up for unmatched performance. Using over a decade of intercooler development, GrimmSpeed created a fully custom cross-flow core with internal and external fin specs tuned for:
The cast end tanks were co-developed with the core to deliver smooth, even airflow across all cylinders. Every unit is designed, welded, pressure-tested, and inspected in the USA to ensure flawless operation.
Fitment was equally important. This kit retains a massive intercooler core without cutting the bumper cover, trimming light housings, or relocating components like the washer tank or coolant reservoir—common issues with other FMIC kits.
Intercooler Piping
A great core demands properly engineered piping. GrimmSpeed’s piping kit features:
Installation was a breeze, all the tubes fit perfectly with the only modification being the bumper support near the front lip. The quality is apparent in the aluminum tubing and the massive intercooler itself. You definitely get what you pay for here in terms of fit and finish.
A few minor things to note. If you’re running the stock 2 port boost controller there will more than likely be serious fitment issues on the turbo charge pipe flange. The silicone hose bends at a hard 90 degree angle that will interfere with the bulky 2 port EBC making it insanely difficult to seat all the way on the charge pipe flange.
I strongly suggest either upgrading to Grimspeeds 3 port EBC as it’s unique mount design keeps it out of the way, or buying Grimspeeds adapter plate which will also add the necessary clearance to seat the silicone hose. Failure to do so will leave you struggling for hours.
Aside from that I believe this is one of if not the best intercoolers in the market for the WRX!
