By upgrading to lightweight, high-performance rotors instead of a full big brake kit, your factory brake bias and ABS performance are preserved. The reduction in rotational and unsprung weight improves acceleration and enhances suspension responsiveness.
The central hat section is crafted from U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft-spec aluminum, while the disc itself is made from proprietary cast iron, poured and machined entirely in-house in the USA. Girodisc rotors feature a curved vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump that efficiently channels cooling air through the disc.
A floating mount system connects the rotor to the hat using 10 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured in the USA to Girodisc specifications and cadmium-plated for long-lasting corrosion resistance. These pins handle braking loads while allowing axial and radial float between the hat and disc. They are secured with grade 12.9 screws and hardened washers. Anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side allow for thermal expansion without rattling, ensuring quiet operation and self-centering of the rotor between the pads.
Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron rotor when needed.
Note: These rotors require brake pads modified for increased clearance due to the larger diameter of the mounting hub.
