Jokes aside, this is how you get some longevity out of the factory 5 speed manual transmission. This unit is designed to slip at a torque less than the torque limits of the gears. You can drive this clutch as hard as you like and it will slip to protect the transmission. Stage 1, 2, 3, and up are designed to slip at higher torque numbers, those torque numbers may be above the limits of the Subaru 5MT.
