This C.A.R.B. approved intake and integrated airbox looks great and has the combined benefits of a short ram intake and a cold air intake without any of the negatives. This system utilizes several unique features in an effort to maintain optimal flow for performance while minimizing turbulence that can cause engine management problems. From a custom conical cloth air-filter element, we use a CFD-designed velocity stack leading to an unique air flow straightener grid. This straightener grid is specifically designed to smooth the incoming air flow as it passes the Mass Air Flow sensor for precise readings. This eliminates the "dead spots" experienced by other aftermarket intakes due to turbulence. No other aftermarket Subaru intake system utilizes these critical design elements. In order to provide a system that looks as good on the outside as the technical advancements happening on the inside, we utilize a one piece design constructed from a high temperature plastic composite. Not only does this save weight compared to the previous metal design, the plastic composite material offers much better heat rejection properties that help keep intake air temperatures cooler. In contrast, intake systems constructed using metal castings or piping can actually retain underhood heat and in turn heat the incoming air. The SF Air Box adds the benefits of a cold air intake to the outstanding performance of the SF Intake. The factory inlet directs cold air from the front grill to the SF Air, which encloses the SF intake. Hot engine bay air that robs horsepower is prevented from entering the intake system. This unique design also separates rainwater from the intake air, eliminating the water ingestion issues that plague in-fender cold air intakes. This COBB SF Intake does not require additional tuning once installed. It is designed to work perfectly with the stock MAF sensor. The filter even comes Pre-Oiled. Simply install and go! Includes the Post MAF Hose.

Good Sound

Install was fairly easy. You get some nice turbo noise and a little bit of sound from the stock bypass valve. Intake temperatures are a little lower (about 8 degrees cooler on average in CA weather) since the install. Mine is currently being run with just a catback exhaust and no tune on my 03 WRX. It runs fine but there are no noticeable power gains. I think without a tune it's mostly cosmetic or for keeping the engine and components a bit cooler. Great purchase overall, can't wait to get it tuned!

The COBB SF Intake and Airbox Package with Black Post MAF Hose is a CARB approved intake that allows your WRX to breath that cool air more freely! This intake is an easy install that is designed to drop in an go! Although a tune is not required it is important to benefit from all the intake has to offer along with the other parts you have installed!

Sounds good and looks good what more could you ask for? Great product

Thank you for the 5 Star Review! The COBB SF Intake and Airbox Package is an upgrade from the stock intake, giving your engine the fresh clean air it deserves. More clean air means more HP and more great sounds!

Lovely sounding intake (2004 forester XT)

Installation was a breeze (had a few extra parts I either didn’t really need or couldn’t figure out what to do with but the whole thing went in no problem. Runs 10-12° above ambient when cruising and sounds great even just daily driving. Should have installed this years ago

We appreciate your positive review of the COBB SF Intake and Airbox Package with Black Post MAF Hose! This intake is by far one of the most optimal intakes for your WRX/STI/FXT! It is designed to provide optimum flow and performance with a drop in installation! The added airbox ensures heat from the engine cannot reach the conical filter keeping intake temps down! Enjoy!

Radiator hose, that comes with intake box, that leads from your radiator to your turbo coolant revisor can cause a air bubble in your coolant system, that can cause over heating…side note, if running intake with a cattback exhaust, u will need a tune.

We appreciate your review! Yes any time you remove a coolant line it is typical to bleed your system to remove any bubbles that may have formed! I also always recommend a tune when running an intake and exhaust to maximize performance gains, whether it is an OTS COBB Map or Pro Tune!
