The OEM Coolant Overflow Tank for the 2008-2014 WRX/STI does its job well enough but the cheap plastic material is ugly and will potentially crack over time, especially when driving hard and going through extreme heat cycles. Its shape is also clumsy and obtrusive when adding an aftermarket FMIC. The upgraded COBB Subaru Coolant Overflow Tank solves these problems without any sacrifices. Constructed of welded aluminum with a capacity of .8L, similar to the OEM tank, along with internal and external anodizing. The COBB tank looks much better under the hood while providing a very simple relocated mounting solution that works perfectly fine on a stock car. Its shape is also more conducive to fitting piping from an aftermarket Front Mount Intercooler. A custom COBB Delrin cap is included which is highly heat resistant and adds to the overall clean look. Plus, the kit comes with a silicone adapter hose and injection molded cap for the washer fluid reservoir, giving a uniform look.

This upgraded Subaru coolant overflow tank is affordable, easy to install, and improves both form and function. It's a must-own part when installing an aftermarket front mounted intercooler to make room for the charge pipe but it's still a no-brainer for a stock car or at any other point in the cars modification journey to add style and convenience to the engine bay.

Update after 1 day of this review: the cap came off somewhere along one of the few (about 4) short 10min drives I made and is got lost so now I have an overflow coolant tank without a cap. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DONT BUY THIS.
While the overflow tank itself looks really nice and is super easy to install it’s pretty disappointing overall.
The cap is a pop-in and the rubber gasket provided doesn’t do a very good job, it’s not the best deal. I’ve already had the cap pop off once while driving in the 4 days I’ve had it on. Luckily it landed on top of the battery and it survived the whole drive home (which was short).
Also due to the inlet for the hose from the radiator being on the side as opposed to the top on the oem plastic one it leaks ALL THE TIME! All I’ve smelt on the short drives I’ve done since installing it are burning coolant from it spewing out from the hole. Luckily I’ve only lost a small amount (been checking it after every drive) but it’s pretty annoying that I can’t keep the bay clean at all.
In my opinion it’s not worth the money. Would’ve much rather spent a bit more and gone with the Killer B coolant/wiper fluid combo.

We appreciate your detailed feedback on the COBB Coolant Overflow Tank. It is unfortunate to hear about your experience with this product, especially the issues with the cap coming off and the leaking from the side inlet. The safety and functionality of essential components like the coolant overflow tank are crucial, and it is disappointing that this product didn't meet your expectations. Your insights will be valuable for potential buyers considering similar upgrades for their vehicles. Thank you for sharing your experience and suggesting an alternative option.
