So after bragging to all of your friends that your car runs 13's you think it's time to go to the drag strip and see what you're made of. You watch all the cars in front of you do a big smokey burnout. And as these burnouts have the crown in applause, your turn is coming up. Dude next to you has a RWD muscle double cam edle 4 barrel dual carburated whatever machine that makes everyone say dang, and he begins to smoke his rear tires. Now you're searching on your phone real quick on how to do a burnout. You put it in first, give it all the revs, and small on the brakes. As you're looking to your left and right you're trying to see if that's tire smoke.

All of a sudden it smells like BBQ chicken in your car and everyone is laughing.

Don't worry, you can get back on the road with the ACT 6 Pad Sprung Race Disc. This disc holds up to 28% more torque when compared to your typical organic disc. This disc is perfect for those with moderate bolt-ons, and features heavy duty torsional dampening springs. Just make sure you do a proper break in period before you do anything else irrational.

Which Clutch Kit is Right for Me: HD or XT?

The choice between an HD (Heavy Duty) and XT (Xtreme Duty) clutch depends on your power level and driving style. The HD clutch is ideal for daily drivers and street-focused builds, offering a 20-50% increase in clamping force while maintaining smooth engagement and drivability. It is best suited for vehicles with mild to moderate performance upgrades that see a mix of city driving and occasional track use. On the other hand, the XT clutch is designed for high-performance applications, providing up to a 150% increase in clamping force with a more aggressive engagement. This makes it the preferred choice for heavily modified vehicles, track-focused builds, and those requiring maximum durability and grip. If you prioritize comfort and versatility, the HD clutch is the better option, while the XT clutch is the right choice for extreme performance and aggressive driving.

What’s the Difference Between a Full-Face Disc and a Pucked Clutch?

Choosing between a full-face organic disc and a pucked cerametallic disc depends on your driving habits and performance needs. A full-face organic disc is best suited for daily driving and mild performance upgrades, offering smooth engagement, longevity, and quiet operation, making it ideal for street-focused vehicles with basic modifications. In contrast, a pucked cerametallic disc is designed for high-performance applications, featuring quick engagement, superior heat resistance, and higher torque capacity. This makes it the go-to option for racing, drifting, and vehicles with significant power upgrades. If you prioritize comfort and seamless engagement for daily use, the full-face organic disc is the right choice. However, if you need rapid engagement and superior performance under extreme conditions, a pucked clutch is the better option.

When Should I Choose a Single Disc Over a Twin Disc Clutch?

The decision between a single disc and twin disc clutch depends on your vehicle’s power level and intended use. A single disc clutch is best for daily drivers and vehicles with moderate performance upgrades, handling up to 400-600 FT-LB of torque. It provides smooth engagement, an OEM-like pedal feel, and cost-effective performance, making it a great choice for street use with bolt-on modifications like intakes, exhausts, and tuning. Conversely, a twin disc clutch is ideal for high-performance builds exceeding 600 FT-LB of torque, offering superior heat dissipation, higher torque capacity, and faster shifts. This makes it the preferred option for competitive motorsports, aggressive driving, and vehicles requiring extreme torque handling. If you want a balance of affordability and daily drivability, a single disc clutch is the way to go, whereas a twin disc clutch is essential for high-power builds and track-ready performance.

How Do I Decide Between a Prolite and Streetlite Flywheel?

The choice between a Prolite and Streetlite flywheel depends on your driving style and vehicle modifications. The Streetlite flywheel is designed for daily drivers and street builds, featuring slightly more mass to improve drivability, smooth engagement, and better heat dissipation. This makes it a great option for vehicles that see a mix of city driving and occasional track days. In contrast, the Prolite flywheel is engineered for racing and aggressive performance, offering a lightweight design that reduces mass for quicker revs, sharper throttle response, and faster shifts. This makes it ideal for high-horsepower or lightweight builds focused on track performance. If you need a flywheel that balances comfort and performance for versatile driving, the Streetlite flywheel is the better choice. However, if you prioritize ultimate responsiveness and fast acceleration, the Prolite flywheel is the superior option.

grabbbby

Clutch arrived and the box was hammered. the parts were all opened and the flywheel had been installed on someone else car already. called and spoke to customer service and they assured me that if there were any issues they would warranty it. since the clutch and pressure plate hadnt been installed i went with it because I dint have time before the next race to wait for a new one. install was pretty simple. took me and a buddy about 4 hours to change it out. holy **** is it grabby.. I DO NOT recommend this for a street car. clutch engagement is like a switch on or off. its near impossible to feather the clutch for smooth take offs.

now as a track clutch.. bro. the power delivery is next to none. my old clutch apparently couldnt handle the TQ and was slipping because now its a machine.

so much of a machine that i grenaded my rear diff on the 7th launch of the 2 day event..

racecar life. am i right?

4 stars because i received a used product.

KM,

Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with the ACT Xtreme Duty Performance Street 6-Puck Clutch Kit with Flywheel. We are sorry to hear about the condition of the package upon arrival and the inconvenience caused by receiving a used flywheel. It is good to know the Subimods Team assured you of warranty coverage if needed. Your feedback on the clutch's grabby engagement is valuable, highlighting its suitability for track use rather than daily driving due to its aggressive nature. We are pleased to hear that it significantly improved power delivery and resolved your previous slipping issues. However, we understand the challenges you faced, especially with unexpected damage to your rear differential during a race event. Your insights into the clutch's performance in track conditions are appreciated.

Failed throw out bearing

After dropping my engine a few times in utter disappointment I found that the throw out bearing in this clutch assembly has gone bad with improper storage conditions. Buyer beware. Otherwise it's a great product for what it is as long as you can get over the fact it constantly sounds like a jar of bolts being shaken everytime you drive it (but with a loud enough exhaust you wont notice it to much). If your lead foot prone then this is a great product for you. I find the street version to burn out way to quickly for me.

Jake,

Thank you for your honest review. We appreciate the feedback regarding the throw-out bearing and the aggressive nature of the clutch. It is great to hear that it performs well for those with a lead foot. We hope you continue to enjoy the performance benefits!

The overall shifting is great other than first gear where you have to gas it more to not jerk the car, violently at times. The bad thing about it is the deceleration noise it makes when you in high revs and release the gas pedal. It makes a grinding noise, it seems like a lot of people having the same issue with aftermarket clutches. I give a 3/5

Jhefri,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the ACT Xtreme Duty Performance Street 6-Puck Clutch Kit with Flywheel for various Subaru models. It is helpful to know your experience with the overall shifting, particularly the challenge in first gear and the deceleration noise observed at high revs. Your input about these issues aligning with other users' experiences is valuable. If you have further questions or need assistance, please feel free to reach out.
