OEM Subaru Wheel Specs

OEM Subaru wheel specs in this list share a 56.1 mm center bore, and the wheel is cast aluminum unless the row says forged. Bolt pattern, offset, and Brembo clearance change with the model year. If a row does not say the wheel clears a caliper, it does not.

How to Read an OEM Subaru Wheel Spec

Match the car to the row, then use the five numbers in order: diameter and width, offset, bolt pattern, center bore, and the tire that came on that wheel. The year on a row is the first year that wheel appeared. It is not a list of every later year the same wheel was installed.

Spec What it decides
Size Diameter and width, in inches
Offset Millimeters, positive in this list
Bolt pattern 5x100 or 5x114.3
Center bore 56.1 mm on these wheels
Build Cast, unless the row says forged

The center bore on the wheels in this list is 56.1 mm. An SVX wheel is 57.1 mm and is not part of this list. A car from before the 1990s can be a different bore. A hub ring does not fix a wrong bolt pattern.

Pro Tip

Check bolt pattern before offset. A 5x100 wheel will not bolt to a 5x114.3 hub. Listings that say 5x114 are the same pattern as 5x114.3.

Bolt Pattern by Model

The split that matters on a WRX is 2014 versus 2015. Through 2014 the WRX is 5x100. From 2015 it is 5x114.3. The STI moved one generation earlier: the 2004 BBS wheel is 5x100, and the 2005–07 BBS wheel is 5x114.3.

Cars in this list Pattern
Impreza, WRX through 2014, 2004 STI 5x100
BRZ, 2013 Crosstrek, most Legacy and Forester rows 5x100
STI from 2005, WRX from 2015, 2022 WRX 5x114.3
2016 Outback row 5x114.3

Offset clusters inside those patterns. WRX and STI rows are mostly +53 or +55. Forester rows in this list are +48. The 2012 Impreza, the BRZ, and the optional BBS RK 17x7 are also +48. The S209 is the wide exception: 19x9 at +48, not the 19x8.5 at +55 used on the Type RA.

WRX Wheel Specs

These are the U.S. WRX wheels with a settled size, offset, pattern, and factory tire. A forged row is marked. Every other row is cast.

2022 Prem/Ltd 18x8.5 +55 5x114.3 25.2 lb 245/40R18

The 2008 and 2009–10 rows are the same 17x7 wheel. Only the factory tire changed. The 23.2 lb figure includes the tire-pressure sensor and no tire. The 2006–07 weight is a shipping-scale number on the bare wheel. The 2011–14 weight is a shipping-scale number at 21 lb. The BBS RK weight is a scale reading of 18.08 lb. The 2018–21 weight is 24.46 lb.

The 2016–17 Premium and Limited wheel is the Enkei 18x8.5 also used on the 2012–14 STI, at 26.6 lb. It is not the lighter 2015 STI Enkei, and it is not the 17-inch base wheel. The 2018–21 18-inch wheel is one style with two molds. That split is in the brake section.

A JDM and EDM 2004 WRX wheel in the same list is 17x7, +55, 5x100, and 19 lb. It clears the red four-piston calipers. The factory tire on that entry was not settled, so it is not in the table.

STI Wheel Specs

STI wheels from 2005 onward are 5x114.3. The 2004 BBS wheel is still 5x100, so it bolts to a GD WRX hub and does not bolt to a 2005 STI hub. Forged BBS rows are marked. The Enkei rows are cast.

2019 S209 BBS 19x9 +48 5x114.3 25 lb, forged 265/35R19

The 2008 five-spoke weight is 27.5 lb. The S209 25 lb figure is a bathroom-scale estimate, not a shipping-scale weight. The 22B is forged, and its weight was never filled in.

The 2010 STI Special Edition used the 2011 Enkei wheel in a darker color. The 2016 sport-package Enkei is a separate 18-inch wheel from the 26.6 lb 2012–14 Enkei. That sport-package design also exists as a 17x7 Forester wheel at +48, 5x100, 18.2 lb, with a 225/55R17 tire.

Which Wheels Clear Brembo Brakes

Every 18-inch STI wheel in this list clears both the four-piston and the six-piston STI Brembo caliper. That rule stops at 19 inches. The 2018 STI 19-inch wheel does not clear a pre-2018 Brembo. A wheel with no brake note does not clear them either. The 2015–21 base 17-inch WRX wheel has no brake note, so it does not.

Wheel Four-piston Six-piston
18-inch STI wheels Clears STI Brembo Clears STI Brembo
2018 STI 19-inch No, pre-2018 No, pre-2018
2018–19 WRX 18-inch Does not clear Clears
2020+ WRX 18-inch Clears Clears
2011–14 WRX 17x8 Clears four-piston No note
2008–10 WRX 17x7 Clears four-piston No note
2022 WRX 18-inch Older cars only No note
2013 BRZ 17x7 No FHI four-piston No note
2020 BRZ 17x7.5 and 18x7.5 Clears four-piston No note
Any row with no note Does not clear Does not clear

Warning

The 2018–2019 WRX 18-inch wheel and the 2020-and-later wheel look the same and are different molds. Only the later mold clears a four-piston STI Brembo. The 2022 WRX 18-inch wheel clears a four-piston Brembo on an older car and does not clear the brakes on a 2022-and-later WRX.

The 1998–2001 2.5RS 16x7 wheels clear the red FHI four-piston calipers. So does the JDM and EDM 2004 WRX 17x7. The SG Forester STI 18x7.5 clears a four-piston Brembo. Those notes are specific. They do not transfer to the next year’s wheel.

Impreza, Legacy, Forester, and BRZ

The same center-bore rule covers these cars. Forester rows here sit at +48. Legacy GT rows sit at +55 until the 2016 Outback row, which is 5x114.3. A 2013 Crosstrek alloy in this list is 17x7, +48, 5x100, with a 225/55R17 tire. That wheel’s weight was never recorded.

Wheel Size Offset Pattern Weight Tire

2022 BRZ Premium 17x7.5 +48 5x100 Not weighed 215/45R17

The 2008 Impreza 20.2 lb figure includes the tire-pressure sensor and no tire. The 2012 Sport weight is a postal-scale reading of about 24 lb. The 2013 BRZ 20.1 lb figure was not confirmed on a shipping scale. The 2020 BRZ Limited weight of 22.5 lb was not confirmed. The 2017 Impreza Sport tire is 225/40R18. A mounted wheel and tire on that car was about 50 lb, which is not the wheel weight.

2014 Forester XT 18x7 +48 5x100 Not weighed 225/55R18

The 2008–09 Spec B wheel is 18x7. A listing that called it 18x7.5 was corrected. The 2005–06 Legacy GT weight of 20.5 lb was still marked unverified. The 2002–04 Forester XT weight is a bathroom-scale figure. The 2009 Forester XT weight includes the sensor and some wheel weights. The 2016 Outback wheel is an Enkei MAT casting, weighed at 23.9 lb on a shipping scale. The Saab 9-2X Aero wheels in this list are 16x6.5 at +53 and 17x7 at +55, both 5x100. The 16-inch weight was not confirmed.

How the Weights Were Taken

A shipping scale or a postal scale on a bare wheel is the number to keep. A bathroom scale is a fallback. On one bare 2011–14 WRX wheel, a bathroom scale read 20.0 lb while the shipping-scale figure used for that wheel is 21 lb. Use 21 lb for that row.

Read the note on the row before you compare two wheels. Some 2008 figures include the tire-pressure sensor. The 2009 Forester XT figure includes the sensor and wheel weights. The S209 figure is a bathroom-scale estimate. A number that was never filled in stays off the comparison.

Match a wheel before you mount it

  1. Bolt pattern. 5x100 and 5x114.3 do not interchange. 5x114 and 5x114.3 do.
  2. Center bore. These wheels are 56.1 mm. An SVX wheel is 57.1 mm.
  3. Width and offset. Use the row for that wheel, not the row for the car it is moving to.
  4. Brake note. No note means it does not clear a Brembo caliper. Lookalike 18-inch WRX wheels are not the same mold.
  5. Weight. If the row is an estimate, weigh the bare wheel on a shipping scale before you treat it as lighter.

Note

The year on each row is the first year that wheel appeared. Later cars often kept an earlier wheel. A missing later model is not a guess you can fill from the closest row.

FAQ

Where do I find OEM Subaru wheel specs for my year?

Use the row whose size, offset, and bolt pattern match that wheel. The year in the row is the first year it appeared. A later car can still be on an earlier wheel, so read the wheel, not only the model year on the title.

What is the center bore on an OEM Subaru wheel?

56.1 mm on the wheels in this list. An SVX wheel is 57.1 mm. A car from before the 1990s can differ.

Are 5x114 and 5x114.3 the same bolt pattern?

Yes. A listing that says 5x114 is the same pattern as 5x114.3. Neither of those bolts to a 5x100 hub.

Do OEM Subaru wheels clear Brembo brakes?

Only when the row says so. Every 18-inch STI wheel clears four-piston and six-piston STI Brembos. A row with no brake note does not. The 2018 STI 19-inch wheel does not clear a pre-2018 Brembo.

Will a 2018 WRX 18-inch wheel clear four-piston Brembos?

The 2018–2019 mold does not. The 2020-and-later mold of that lookalike wheel does. Both clear six-piston Brembos. They are not the same casting.

Do 2022 WRX wheels clear the 2022 WRX brakes?

The 18-inch Premium and Limited wheel clears a four-piston Brembo on an older car. It does not clear the brakes on a 2022-and-later WRX.

Are OEM Subaru wheels forged?

They are cast unless the row says forged. The forged wheels in this list are the BBS rows: the 2002–04 WRX option, the STI BBS wheels, the Type RA, and the S209.

What tire came on the 2008 WRX versus the 2009?

The wheel is the same 17x7 at +55. The 2008 tire is 205/50R17. The 2009–10 tire is 225/45R17.
